Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic & Professional Honor Society International
Privacy Policy

Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) is a non-profit honor society that values and protects the privacy of our members. CSI only collects and retains member data for the sole purpose of communications and transactions pertaining to CSI.

Membership in CSI is available only to counselors who have been invited to apply for membership and have met certain eligibility requirements, and who are approved for membership by a Chapter Faculty Advisor in an active local CSI chapter that is located within a master’s or doctoral counselor training program in the United States or the Philippines. CSI does not sell member data to third parties nor does it market or advertise goods or services apart from allowing members to access a link on the CSI website to connect to the CSI Store to purchase CSI trademark merchandise. Purchases made at the CSI Store are processed at Award Concepts, a CSI-approved vendor, and Award Concepts' privacy policy will govern transactions at that site.

Counselors who apply for CSI membership must complete and submit the New Member Registration. In doing so, they voluntarily provide certain information to CSI within the New Member Registration. CSI does not save information submitted via the New Member Registration for counselors who are not approved for membership. CSI does retain information submitted via the New Member Registration for students, professional counselors, and counselor educators who are approved for membership. CSI uses this information to create the approved member’s profile, and the member creates their own unique username and password to access their profile. Information is stored safely and processed per the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines.

CSI uses this data to:

  1. verify that an applicant for membership meets CSI’s membership eligibility requirements (e.g., GPA, completing at least 9 credit hours in a counselor education program);
  2. identify desirable member benefits (e.g., areas of professional practice and interest; geographical networking opportunities); and,
  3. provide accurate and responsive customer service to members.

When a member logs into their member profile on the CSI website using their unique member username and password, they can add or change information within their profile. CSI also identifies certain information about the member (e.g., log data) and uses this information internally to correctly credit members with submitting certain reports (e.g., Annual Plans and Reports; CFA Change Forms), ensure accuracy of recordkeeping, improve member benefits, and provide quality service to members. For example, when a member logs into their personal member profile and submits an Award Application, CSI is able to correctly track the submission to the member and appropriately follow-up with the member (e.g., to confirm receipt, to provide updates about the review process).

As a non-profit organization, CSI works efficiently to provide excellent member services with a small Headquarters staff. Consequently, for certain business operations and projects, CSI may contract and share member information with third party providers so they can perform needed services. CSI maintains copies of these third party providers’ privacy policies.

Emails sent to CSI may be saved to allow us to respond and follow-up as needed, as part of historical records for members and chapters, and to improve member services and support.

Requests to delete one’s CSI member profile and/or questions about the privacy of member data may be directed to CSI’s Chief Executive Officer: Dr. Holly Moorhead (

CSI reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time.
