Ryan Leak discusses the difference between a bad day and a bad moment. Often times we allow one experience during the day ruin the entire day from start to finish. In this episode, Ryan shares through personal stories how we can overcome the
negativity bias to keep the peace with ourselves and others. He shares how he responded to book reviews and emails with a positive response instead of rudeness.

This podcast is great for treating overthinkers and individuals with anxiety to understand how the negativity bias impacts our thinking. It provides counselors with education to normalize negative thinking patterns and help them create a new
way of engaging. By understanding our negative emotions, we can use that energy to address triggers and solve problems. We can focus on higher level responses to build connection with others who respond to us negatively and engage them
with kindness. Unlocking our genuine ways, we want to respond by being fully present with others and honoring our stories.

This resource can be assigned to clients to listen to this 13 minute podcast and review their understanding the next session. I recommend assigning the client homework to create example in which the negativity bias shows up and then how to
address by understanding how it impacts body, emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and outcomes. By practicing this with several scenarios, the client can turn bad days into bad moments.
