The Beta Rho Chi chapter, students, and faculty members at Florida Atlantic University are deeply
saddened by the loss of Amrita C. Ghaness (1998-2021). To those who knew her, Amrita was a fierce champion of mental health advocacy, taking on an internship with the American Psychological Association at the young age of 21. At a time when most are just
beginning to figure out their identity and sense of purpose in this world, Amrita was resolute in her desire to speak up for those who were struggling with mental health issues. This passion was showcased in her love of research, dedication to service
activities, and personal development as a future counselor, a role she would have quickly succeeded in. Amrita was always the first one in your corner, whether you knew her for five minutes or five years. Her authentic presence, welcoming spirit, and
cheerful disposition will be what Amrita’s loved ones will miss most about her, among other traits. She was a lover of the beach despite rain or shine, much like her attitude towards life. Amrita will be awarded a posthumous master’s degree in Mental
Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. We ask each of you to honor Amrita by always taking the time to be kind to others and yourselves.

Originally published at csi-net.org on July 23, 2021.
