Dear Counselor Educators,

You are being asked to participate in a research study conducted by Debbie C. Sturm, Stephanie Chalk, and John Rogers from James Madison University. The purpose of this study is to explore the perceived competence and confidence of counselor educators when teaching public arena advocacy such as public information and social/political advocacy to masters and doctoral level students. We are also interested in pedagogical techniques, resources, and cross-disciplinary influences to your teaching approach. This study will contribute to the counselor education research regarding pedagogical approaches to public arena advocacy. Specifically, we hope to learn from you in order to further strengthen the ways in which we teach conceptual, practical, and technical approaches to public arena advocacy.

Research Procedures

Benefits

Potential benefits from participation in this study include an opportunity to reflect on your own confidence, competence, and pedagogical strategies of teaching social justice and advocacy. No identifiable information will be collected from the participant and no identifiable responses will be presented in the final form of this study. All data will be stored in a secure location accessible only to the researchers. Upon completion of the study, all information will be destroyed.
