  • Hello all! We thought it would be a great idea to create an online community journal for Chi Delta Rho members. You are welcome to share self-care tips, poems, photos, ask questions, or simple share some thoughts. It is totally up to you. Our hope is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for us all to connect off campus and outside of class.

  1. Since the transition to remote learning I have be focusing more on my overall wellness. One thing that I have found to be especially helpful for me is meditation. I use the Insight Timer app, which has 45,000 free meditations. Has anyone else been focusing on a self-care routine?  - Amy Atkinson 5-23-2020 

 

  1. Amy!!! I have been using Insight Timer for probably three years now. I swear by It. I actually meditated tonight. It’s such a good way to cope with stress, sleep difficulties, and even just to take some time out of your day to center yourself.

  1. Amy, thank you for mentioning the app! I’m going to incorporate the meditations within my morning care routine. Each morning, I wake up and start my day off with a workout and walk around the neighborhood (: Staying active has proven to be an efficient method towards regulating my emotional/mental state, especially during this quarantine. - Kate Hamilton 5/25/20 

  1. Amy, thank you for sharing this app! It has been my intention to engage in more mindfulness activities, including meditation. I have not been as successful as I had planned – but I think using this app will help me to be more consistent as I spend a lot of time on my phone anyway! For self-care I have been working out and doing some yoga throughout the week as well as allowing myself downtime before bed to relax and drink my sleepy time tea. I love the idea of meditation!  As time passes during the stay-at-home orders across the country, I learn of so many stories of personal strength during heavy challenges and conflicting feelings and beliefs related to who we are as a country.  Personally, I find myself to be more compassionate on some days and quite impatient on others.  The way I process those feelings is through speaking to my ancestors...asking for their guidance, journaling, and walking to ground myself.  I’ve had to learn to remember to spray myself with bug repellant and to take allergy medicine to get walking outdoors.  It’s not what I’m accustomed to, but I find it worth all the effort to be in the sunshine! -Kathie H. Kaopuiki-Nestrick 5/27/20
