"Hi Everyone,

Did you know that this week is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week? Each year, the week before Thanksgiving, we try to bring awareness and attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness in our country. It’s a great time to educate yourself a little, learn how to help, and donate as you can.

To start, I suggest taking a look at the National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week website and some national stats.

We often use the month of November to practice gratitude and thanks, let’s take a few minutes this week to think about all we have, and how we can continue to  help those with less.

Now talk about personality!!! What a great spokesperson for Down Syndrome Awareness!

As school counselor, college counselors, and clinical mental health counselors, we will meet and work with students and clients who have been diagnosed with Down Syndrome or have family members who have. To provide ethical and effective care for our clients, it's important that we enhance our awareness about diagnoses, adopt pro-social attitudes and beliefs about the clients we work with, increase our knowledge and skills in working with clients, and take action to advocate for client needs. Let's start the discussion with the questions below. If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to post those too.
