What can the the 2015-2016 POP Board do for you? 0 P. Wissing What can the 2015-2016 POP Board do for you? Please let us know what activities, training, or other events you would like to see this year. One example I have heard from people is putting together study groups for the CPCE and NCE.

Autism Spectrum Disorders Research 0 M. Jones Hello POP members!  Below you will find information regarding a proposed research idea from POP member Courtney Hoppe. If you are interested in becoming a part of this excellent research idea, please reach out to Courtney directly at courtneyhoppe@me.com. Purpose of the study: Parents and primary caregivers need to prepare children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders for the challenges they will encounter in their day-to-day lives. A study should be conducted with families with children in the Autism Spectrum, to quantify and qualify the success of parents receiving counseling and training, and the impact on the child’s progress and adjust-ability.   The questions this study seeks to answer are as follows:   When a parent receives personal counseling, and education related to their child’s special needs, are their children reporting more favorable self-image and sociability? At the conclusion of the six-month evaluation period, have the children displayed the ability to cope with their less desirable symptoms, or have they overcome any of their perceived disabilities or challenges, as a result of the additional parental support? At the conclusion of the six-month evaluation period, would parents report a positive experience, and advocate for counseling and special needs education?
