In this webinar, attendees will be introduced to the life-saving treatment approach of integrated care treatment. The content areas covered will include: (a) defining what is integrated care treatment, (b) describing the various levels of integration, and (c) learning various clinical strategies found in collaborative care settings (e.g., dynamic therapeutic alliance, multilingual clinical practitioner, behavioral medicine approach) where treatment is provided in a systematic manner.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will be able to describe and define what is integrated care treatment.

2. Attendees will be able to differentiate between the various levels (degree of integration) of integrated care treatment.
3. Attendees will learn various clinical strategies and competencies found in integrated and collaborative care settings (e.g., dynamic therapeutic alliance, multilingual clinical practitioner, behavioral medicine approach) that can be utilized in their own clinical practice.

Michael K. Schmit, Ph.D., LPC, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Dr. Schmit specializes in integrated care treatment, counseling outcome research, and research methods and statistics. His clinical experience encompasses working with individuals across the lifespan in areas of addiction, serious mental illness, and trauma. Dr. Schmit is the recipient of two national awards, the Glen E. Hubele National Graduate Student Award, in 2016, and the Best Practices Research Award, in 2018, provided by the American Counseling Association for his research on integrated care treatment.
