Community engagement is a vital aspect of the counseling field; yet, it is often difficult to know where or how to begin. In an effort to better prepare professional counselors for community engagement activities, this webinar by a panel of counselors will discuss this concept from “idea to follow-through.” The presenters will provide an overview of counselor community engagement (CCE), including real-life examples of what this looks like from two CSI chapters. Ten key considerations for community engagement, such as how to engage in community outreach and advocacy efforts, will also be discussed. Needs assessment, along with ideas for creative fundraising, will also be addressed. Finally, resources, such as the CCE resources webpage and Facebook page will be offered. Participants will leave the webinar with practical ideas they can use to effectively engage their communities and assist with strengthening their chapter’s CCE committee.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:
1. Define counselor community engagement (CCE) and why it is important.
2. Understand how a CCE Committee can benefit a chapter and its students and professional members.
3. Gain knowledge of the 10 Key Considerations for Chapter Community Engagement and available resources for CCE.
4. Gather insight from real-life CCE examples.
