I came into the field of school counseling in my early 30s. I earned my undergraduate degree in 2006 from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in the History of World Religion. I earned my masters in education and school counseling from DePaul University in 2011. This is my seventh year serving as a school counselor for the Chicago Public Schools. I currently work at Lawndale Community Academy, a pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school, located on Chicago's westside. Also, I have served as a Master Counselor for the district for 4 years and have served as a Naviance Advisory Team Member for 3 years. I was awarded with the Director's Choice Award for CPS in 2013 for my school counseling program.

Most recently, I have been awarded 2018 National School Counselor of the Year by the American School Counselor Association. Moreover, I am the proud mother of one son who is currently a junior at Roosevelt University studying social entrepreneurship. It is my passion to serve students and communities by developing comprehensive school counseling programs that work to create change and close the achievement gap.
