Mentorship without Borders - Mentees

Posted By Corrie M. Marr, Monday, February 16, 2015

Mentorship without Borders is a state-wide mentorship program developed by a group of five EdS students in the Counselor Education program at the University of South Carolina. We realized that we didn't get a realistic view of our aspirational roles, until practicum and internship. We felt like getting exposure to these roles, through job shadowing and mentorship from a professional counselor could greatly improve our professional identity development and identification as a future counselor.

This statewide program has been created to pair South Carolina counselors-in-training with professional counselors. Our hopes is that students will get to see a more realistic view of what their role would look like. In the short-term this could be done through shadowing and interview-style communication. We would like to see these pairings to develop into a true mentoring relationship by moving past information gathering.

Mentorship without Borders is in need of students that wish to be paired with professional counselors. Students should be enrolled in a Master’s or Specialist program or minoring in Counseling. Students will need to attend the Mentorship without Borders Meet and greet Event on April 4th, 2015 from 9am - 12pm in Columbia, SC.

We are asking that mentors and mentees sign up
by March 20th using the following forms.
