2016-17 CSI Chapter Development Grants & Statewide/Regional Networking Grants
Chapter Development Grants
Chi Sigma Iota Chapter Development Grants are intended to support activities in chapters that promote and recognize excellence in the areas of leadership, professional identity, advocacy, scholarship, and enhanced member involvement through active counselor community engagement. Projects that enhance chapter and member services are highly desirable. Priority will be given to chapters working on reactivation and expansion of services to professional members, and those that help members to enhance their professional identity and their sense of commitment to the counseling profession and personal excellence. Grants provide a stipend of $50-$250 as seed money for chapter projects.
Awards will be given in both large and small chapter categories. Chapters may receive an award only once in any three year period. Past chapter grant recipients (.xls) are described by year and may be useful to review. Among the most frequently identified needs have been support for speakers for initiations and workshops, leadership development, alumni and professional member outreach, and chapter reactivation. Chapters wishing to apply for a grant should review the funding guidelines.
You can download a PDF of the application if you would like to review the form in advance. The online application for 2016-17 Chapter Development Grants is now available, and grant proposals will be accepted until Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 5:00 PM EDT.
If you have questions, please contact the Chapter Grants Chair at email@example.com. Recipients will be notified by mid-November and will be asked to complete an interim report by February 15, 2017 and a final report by April 15, 2017. Receipts should be submitted with the final report, and a reimbursement check will be sent to the Chapter Faculty Advisor by April 25.
Statewide/Regional Networking Grants
CSI encourages chapters to network though statewide or regional meetings of chapters and chapter representatives. These meetings often are held in conjunction with conferences of counseling associations, and other times chapters join together for CSI Day conferences at the state level. Grants will be awarded this year in support of building professional identity and coalitions of chapters to promote stronger state counseling licensure laws. Chapters that have received a chapter or statewide/regional networking grant during any previous years may still apply for a statewide networking grant. Awarded grants are typically between $100 and $400, and funding is partly dependent on the number of applications received. Please note that the funding guidelines for Chapter Development Grants also apply to Statewide/Regional Networking Grants.
Chapters wishing to apply for networking grants are encouraged to review CSI's professional advocacy materials, the Spring 2014 issue of the CSI Exemplar, and the Summer 2014 Exemplar that includes articles such as "Advocacy in Action: CACREP Degree Required for Counselor Licensure of Ohio Residents" and "Counselor Community Engagement: Networking to Support Chapters." CSI support may be requested for exhibit booths, handouts for conference participants to be provided at the booths, and handouts for conference sessions related to CSI and professional identity.
Although a single chapter may complete the grant application, any additional chapters from the same state or region that will be contributing to the project should be listed on the application.
