Dr. Judith G. Miranti
Counseling Program Director, Xavier University of Louisiana
Judy Miranti is the counseling program director at Xavier University of Louisiana. She earned her Bachelor's degree at Our Lady of Holy Cross College and her Master's in Psychology and Counseling from Our Lady of the Lake University. She received her doctorate degree from the University of Nevada in Counseling and Personnel Services with an emphasis Marriage and Family Counseling. She has worked as an elementary school teacher, school counselor and administrator prior to obtaining her doctorate degree.
She is a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Louisiana and a Certified School Counselor in the state of Louisiana.
Judy Miranti has served the counseling profession in numerous capacities as past President of Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society, ASERVIC, Louisiana Counseling Association, Louisiana ASERVIC, and Louisiana ACES. She was also a member of the American Counseling Association Governing Council, and faculty advisor of Alpha Zeta chapter of CSI. She is also a charter member of the CSI Academy of Leaders for Excellence.
She has written numerous publications, and has been the co-editor of Ethical and Spiritual Values in Counseling, and Counseling: The Spiritual Dimension. She co-authored a text entitled Religious and Spiritual Issues in Counseling: Applications across diverse populations.
Judy has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the Gilbert and Kathleen Wrenn Humanitarian and Caring Person Award, LAMFT Lifetime Achievement Award, the Louisiana Counseling Association Distinguished Professional Service Award, the ARVIC Meritorious Award, and Our Lady of Holy Cross College Alumna of the Year.
She enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, and meeting people.
