Good news! In celebration of CSIs 30th anniversary, CSI has been provided with 25 American Counseling Association (ACA) poster sessions for the annual conference scheduled for March 12-15, 2015 in Orlando, Florida.
Online proposals from CSI chapters were accepted through Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 5:00 pm EDT. The deadline for submitting a proposal has passed.
Thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal. Decisions will be sent to primary presenters as soon as possible and no later than October 10th.
Primary presenters must be student members of ACA and CSI. Chapter Faculty Advisors, other faculty, or alumni ACA/CSI members qualify to serve as co-presenters.
Poster Session Themes
This year, we are targeting poster submissions covering chapter initiatives that aim to develop members in the following areas:
- Enhancing Counselor Community Engagement through Professional Advocacy
- Leadership and Standards: Promoting Professional Identity
- Professional Identity and Advocacy
Please note: Posters must have relevance for a wide range of ACA attendees, not just CSI members. This notation will be a key consideration in judging proposals. Poster session presenters are encouraged to review the three CSI-sponsored sessions and develop posters to amplify each of the themes.
Members who are interested in submitting a poster proposal will need to:
- Identify a title and one of the three themes on which the poster is based
- Write a 75-word poster description for the ACA program
- Write a concise paragraph, in less than 200 words, describing:
Submit name, address, email address, phone number, ACA and CSI membership numbers, and experience for the Chapter Faculty Advisor, primary presenter and co-presenters (up to 10 presenters total, though ACA and CSI may not list more than 5 or 6 in their programs). All presenters must be active members of CSI and ACA.
- the poster presentation and its relation to the chosen theme, and
- the poster’s relevance to a wide ACA audience
All submissions must be received by Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Posters that were previously presented on CSI Day may not be re-submitted. Poster submissions will be rated for relevance, clarity, and suitability for a wide ACA audience. The proposals selected for submission will be notified as soon as possible after the deadline and no later than October 10th.
ACA provides boards upon which poster materials can be pinned or taped. All programs will be listed in the Orlando conference bulletin along with all other refereed conference programs. Review the guidelines for preparing poster presentations as you develop your poster.
