For decades, Chi Sigma Iota has led the charge to establish a clear professional identity for professional counselors. This charge remains an essential part of CSIs mission, hence our 2014-15 theme has been "Advocacy to Strengthen Professional Identity." We recognize that advocacy is a two pronged activity. Our ultimate goal is service in keeping with our mission to: "… promote a strong professional identity through members (professional counselors, counselor educators, and students) who contribute to the realization of a healthy society by fostering wellness and human dignity.” As a result, our leadership training will foster a clear professional identity with a purpose.

This year, during our leadership workshop, we will celebrate 30 years of excellence in CSI by exploring the promotion of counseling excellence through professional identity. We will begin by recognizing our 2014-2015 Leadership Fellows and Interns, and will then introduce a panel of three of the counseling profession’s most prominent leaders who have shaped the profession through their dedication and service over the last half century.

Drs. Carol Bobby, Tom Clawson, and Larry Loesch will discuss their views on professional identity and leadership in the counseling profession. Participants also will have an opportunity to interact with panel members and other CSI leaders during the small group discussions.
