The role of Chapter Faculty Advisor (CFA) is one that can be difficult to maneuver without student involvement and dedication. Some CFAs experience struggles when determining the appropriate level of faculty guidance to student leadership. The presenters will provide tips and strategies to promote student involvement and leadership in local CSI chapters. These tips will assist CFAs with managing responsibilities and increasing student involvement.

The role of Chapter Faculty Advisor (CFA) is one that can be difficult to maneuver without student involvement and dedication. Some CFAs experience struggles when determining the appropriate level of faculty guidance to student leadership. The presenters will provide tips and strategies to promote student involvement and leadership in local CSI chapters. These tips will assist CFAs with managing responsibilities and increasing student involvement. This webinar is designed primarily for CFAs, however, all members will benefit by gaining an understanding of ways to support and participate in their local chapters.


Learning Objectives:

1. Audience members will learn strategies to promote and encourage student involvement in their local CSI chapters.
2. Audience members will learn strategies for balancing CFA responsibilities with other professional duties.
3. Audience members will learn strategies to develop students’ leadership in their local chapter.

Peggy Ceballos

Dr. Peggy Ceballos earned a Ph.D. in counseling from the University of North Texas in 2008. Upon graduation, she joined the Counseling Program faculty at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a tenure-track assistant professor where for five years she served as associate director of the Multicultural Play Therapy Center and as coordinator of the School Counseling Program. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas. She has served as a Chapter Faculty Advisor for the past 7 years. Ceballos' research agenda addresses culturally-responsive play therapy and creative arts interventions with underserved youth in school settings with a specific focus on Latino populations. She has conducted over 50 professional presentations. Ceballos has been the recipient of 11 professional awards, including the 2016 TCA Advocacy Award, the 2012 Mary Thomas Burke Professional Award for being an exemplary mentor; the 2011 American Counseling Association (ACA) Best Practice Award for best research; and the 2009 Association for Play Therapy (APT) Dissertation Award.

Angie Wilson

Angie D. Wilson, PhD, LPC-S, LSOTP, NCC is an assistant professor in counseling in the Department of Counseling and Higher Education at the University of North Texas (UNT). Dr. Wilson’s research agenda addresses multicultural families and counseling, offender and addictions counseling issues, and issues within counselor education. She is the immediate past president of the Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, the 2016-2017 Secretary of the International Association of Addiction and Offender Counseling (IAAOC), and the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Addictions/Offender Professional Award from IAAOC. She currently serves as the Co-Faculty Advisor of the Rho Kappa Chapter at UNT.
