In this economy, many individuals feel discouraged from finding a meaningful career and simply finding a job that pays. However, evidence suggests that career meaning is important to personal satisfaction, well-being, and job effectiveness. This presentation will help you explore how a meaningful career can lead to optimal wellness, show you how to uncover the "hidden job market” to find your ideal work, and explain how you can negotiate your salary, benefits, and job tasks to create and secure your dream job.
Dr. Cheryl Wolf is an Assistant Professor at Western Kentucky University. She has experience working as a university career counselor, crisis counselor, and counseling program clinical coordinator. She received her B.S. in Economics from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, her M.S. in Human Resource Management from Troy State University, and her M.Ed., Ed.S, and Ph.D. from the University of Florida. In addition, she maintains certifications as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CHt) helping individuals with counseling and career development. She teaches counseling and career development courses and conducts research in career meaning and wellness. She is published in several peer-reviewed academic journals and presents her research and career-related practical skills at numerous state, regional, and national conferences including ACA, ACES, and SACES. Before she entered the counseling field, she had a variety of military and business work experiences including serving as a naval officer, executive recruiter, financial advisor, and HR professional association board member.
