Thoughts of opening your own private practice? Questions about what is involved and if it is really right for you? This webinar will assist you in creating a vision for your private practice and will then walk you through many the steps in making that vision a reality. We’ll address some of the challenges of private practice and help you evaluate whether or not it is a good fit for you. If you decide you want to give it a try, we’ll then look at factors to include in developing a business plan, thoughts to consider about becoming a provider on insurance panels, marketing ideas – and how to make sure that whatever you create is a reflection of who you are as a person and professional. There will also be opportunities for you to submit your own questions to be addressed at the end of the webinar. To send a question to Dr. Woodyard before the webinar, complete the form here.
Dr. Cathy Woodyard has always seen herself as a teacher, and for many years she taught on the high school, community college, and university level. Since receiving her master’s and doctoral degrees in counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce, Cathy was in private practice as a member of a large group practice. In 2012, she ventured out on her own and opened A Sheltering Tree – Center for Counseling and Creativity in McKinney, Texas. She envisioned a center where clients could come for individual counseling, workshops, group therapy, and psychodrama; she wanted it be to be a space for experiences such as drum circles, book making, meditation, and parenting classes. Cathy expands these experiences outside of A Sheltering Tree by taking groups on retreats to New England, New Mexico, the Smoky Mountains, and to the coast of Maryland. Workshops, retreats, and classes allow Cathy to combine her passion for teaching with her love of private practice. After a year as a CSI intern when she was a counseling student, Cathy served as editor of the Chi Sigma Iota Exemplar for eighteen years.
CSI Webinars are free to active members and $39 for guests.
