Has your chapter been discussing how to make the best use of CSIs new web page? Are you looking for new ideas to plan and outstanding initiations or awards ceremony? Are you thinking about developing or revising a mentoring program? Tips for building strong chapters in all of these areas as well as strategies for involving alumni and professional members will be discussed in this interactive training session led by experienced Chapter Faculty Advisors and chapter leaders.

Dr. Kristopher Goodrich is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico. Kris has been an active member of CSI for over a decade, having served in a variety of leadership roles. Kris is currently the CFA for the Upsilon Nu Mu chapter, where he supported students in re-energizing their small chapter. Kris also helped co-found and serve as CFA for the Sigma Alpha Upsilon chapter at Southern Arkansas University. As a student, Kris was the founding Treasurer, President, and Awards Chair of the Sigma Upsilon chapter at Syracuse University. Kris was recognized for his strong commitment to professional identity, having been selected in 2008 as a CSI International Leadership Fellow. Kris currently serves as Chair of CSI’s Chapter Development Committee and as a member of CSI’s Strategic Planning Committee. He also wrote a grounded theory about CSI leaders with Dr. Melissa Luke, which was published in CES.

Dr. Melissa Luke is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the School Counseling program at Syracuse University. Prior to this, she worked for more than fifteen years as a teacher and school counselor in K-12 public schools. Melissa has been an active member of Chi Sigma Iota for over a decade, fulfilling numerous leadership roles. Melissa has been the Chapter Faculty Advisor (CFA) and co-CFA for the Sigma Upsilon chapter, where she has assisted the student leaders in developing a monthly series of professional development workshops (including the recently recognized Winter Wellness event), implementing annual social justice initiatives in the community, as well as facilitating the expansion of successful fundraising events. As the NARACES RCF, Melissa established mechanisms for connecting CFAs with vital resources, including one another for shared philanthropic activities. Melissa recently joined the Chi Sigma Iota Leadership Taskforce and was elected to serve as the Chi Sigma Iota Treasurer where she looks forward to professional involvement at the global level.

Mr. Stephen Kennedy chairs Chi Sigma Iota’s Professional Member Committee and serves as the CSI Project Director where he coordinates CSI webinars and works with chapters that create social networking websites. He maintains CSI's social networking sites on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Google+. After receiving his master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Stephen worked as a counselor at Northeast Guilford High School and received CSI International’s Outstanding Practitioner award in 2010. Stephen is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education at North Carolina State University, where he served as President of CSI’s Nu Sigma Chi chapter. He also serves on the board of the North Carolina School Counselor Association as Chair of the Government Relations Committee. Stephen has led presentations on technology use, career development, and professional advocacy at national and state counseling conferences.
