Growing Leaders: How CSI Chapters Support Member Leadership Development

Dr. Cheryl L. Fulton, Assistant Professor, Texas State University
Dr. Edward Wahesh, Assistant Professor, Villanova University

Wednesday, November 8, 2017
2:00-3:00 PM EST

Counselors are leaders across many of their roles, however, it’s not always clear how they learn their leadership skills or how they are supported to grow them. Helping counselors to develop as effective leaders is essential to providing quality services to clients as well as supporting and strengthening the counseling profession. Involvement in CSI, among other counseling organizations, is a vital means for achieving this goal.

In this webinar, we will offer an overview of leadership in counseling and CSI’s role in promoting leadership excellence. This will include discussion of the CSI Principles and Practices of Leadership Excellence and servant leadership. We also will share the results of a content analysis study of how leadership is promoted within CSI chapters based on a review of 136 chapters’ Annual Reports. Practical implications for CSI members, Chapter Faculty Advisors, Chapter Leaders, and Professional Members will be shared.
