International Network
Welcome to CSI's newly-established International Network Site!
Chi Sigma Iota is an international honor society that provides services to support excellence in the profession of counseling. At present the state of counseling around the world is not well known. We are developing this new web site to contribute to the knowledge base of counseling around the globe and to provide a site where nations can share information about the development of counseling.
At present we are gathering information primarily in the form of statistics and hopefully narratives about the history, development, key figures, current status, and future plans for professionalizing counseling in various countries. We will produce an annual report that summarizes such key information as:
- Number of counselor training programs
- Level of training to be employed as a counselor (bachelors/masters)
- Number of counselors currently working in various settings (by level of training)
- Existence of standard counselor training curricula
- Certification/licensure/credentialling options for counselors
- Professional associations for counselors/to which counselors belong
- Conferences within country and region that counselors typically attend
- Goals relative to accreditation and credentialing of professional counselors
This site is being developed and maintained by Dr. Jane Myers, CSI Project Director, and Brenda Austin, 2009-2010 CSI Intern and Doctoral Student at Syracuse University. Please contact jemyers@csi-net.org if you are interested in contributing to this project, or if you know of others whom we should contact.
