Awards
Chi Sigma Iota's goals, as specified in its strategic plan include recognizing excellence in counseling scholarship, research, leadership, and practice, and developing leaders for the counseling profession. These goals are accomplished through our International Awards Packet. CSIs awards include Outstanding Individual recognition, Outstanding Chapter recognition, Fellows and Interns, and the Distinguished Leadership Award. Each year a description of the awards recipients is prepared and distributed at the Awards Reception. A copy of the Annual Award Program is placed on the CSI web page for review by chapters as well as members who are unable to attend the Awards Reception. A list of all CSI International award recipients is also available.
Chapter Awards Program
Chapters are encouraged to develop awards programs using the Awards Training Package and to submit nominees annually for CSI International Awards. Chapters that solicit nominees and select award recipients within their chapters typically forward their chapter recipients in nomination for a CSI award.
Outstanding Individual Awards
Several awards are available for outstanding individuals. These include the Outstanding Entry-Level Student, Outstanding Doctoral Student, Outstanding Service to the Chapter, Outstanding Chapter Faculty Advisor, and Outstanding Research Award. CSI also recognizes practitioners through the Outstanding Practitioner and Outstanding Practitioner Supervisor Awards.

Awards are given to chapters in recognition of outstanding individual programs and outstanding newsletters. In addition, an award is given annually to one Outstanding Chapter. Chapters that have received one of these awards are not eligible for nomination for that award again for five years.

Leadership Fellows and Interns
Each year, 10 leadership fellows are selected who have provided evidence of leadership potential within their chapter. These individuals, including two selected as interns, receive recognition, specialized leadership training, and financial support to attend CSI activities held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Counseling Association. Leadership Fellow and intern nominees must be members of CSI, have the support of their chapter including endorsement by the Chapter Faculty Advisor, and a commitment for a matching fund award from their chapter.
Thomas J. Sweeney Professional Leadership Award
The Thomas J. Sweeney Professional Leadership Award (award criteria and past recipients), named after the founder of CSI, is given annually to an individual who reflects Dr. Sweeney's vision, leadership, and concern for others.
